Was man alles so findet, wenn man in seiner Sammlung ein bisschen buddelt, entstaubt und sich erinnert: Revis haben, als es sie noch gab, verflucht gute Musik gemacht! Ich weiß noch genau, wie ich damals mit Discman (ja, sowas gab es auch mal) und Ohrstöpseln durch die Welt gelaufen bin und mich so langsam vom klar formulierten Rock überzeugen ließ. Und jetzt, fast sechs Jahre später, ist die Musik immer noch genial.
Das Album fängt gleich zu Beginn mit einer kräftigen Demonstration der klaren Klänge an, gemischt mit einer ordentlichen Portion Stimmgewalt, wie in Caught In The Rain. Nach einem Drittel beginnen dann die echten Klassiker wie Seven und Straight Jacket Labels, und am Ende stehen so schöne Balladen wie Places For Breathing und Look Right Through Me.

An dieser Stelle muss ich mich dafür entschuldigen, dass ich leider kein Youtube-Video von den besten Songs präsentieren kann, weil Sony Music Entertainment alle Zugriffe aus Deutschland abblockt. Kenner wissen allerdings, wie sie das umgehen können, und wer das nicht weiß, hat eben Pech gehabt…
Jedenfalls empfehle ich, mal alle Herzchen-Tracks durchzuhören, denn irgendeiner wird schon den richtigen Geschmack treffen. Viel Spaß beim Hören!
Ja, lasst uns alle noch mal von vorne anfangen und direkt zu Beginn gute Musik hören. We Are The Emergency produzieren nämlich solche. Mir fällt eigentlich nur eine Band ein, die noch saubereren Rock produziert, aber dazu später vielleicht mehr… Bis dahin müsst ihr euch mit Seizure begnügen. Aber ich denke, das sollte machbar sein, denn wie gesagt, es ist gute Musik.
Da es sich hier leider nur um eine EP handelt, kann man sich leider nicht auf Amazon verlassen. Nicht mal einen zünftigen MP3-Download gibt es. Aber ich bin sicher, der wirklich geneigte Leser findet auch einen anderen Online-Store, wo man sich das bestellen kann. In der Zwischenzeit präsentiere ich mal die einzelnen Tracks und wie sie mir gefallen.

Erst durch den Song The Grass Is Greener On Our Side bin ich so wirklich auf den Geschmack gekommen. Klasse Melodie, schöner Gesang und kräftiges Gebrüll machen diese Moral-Geschichte zum echten Hörgenuss.

Besonders toll finde ich die ruhigen Stellen mit dem schönen Piano… Aber auch dieses drückende Geschrei, bei dem sich (bei ausreichender Lautstärke) die Nackenhaare aufstellen, ist nicht zu verachten. So muss sich gute Musik anhören und anfühlen. Da ist es beinahe schon schade, dass es noch kein richtiges Album gibt… Aber ich drücke die Daumen und warte einfach ab.
Achtung, eine Warnung vorweg: Dieses Album ist nur für hartgesottene Fans von Post-Hardcore zu empfehlen. Richtig dunkle Musik, ziemlich viel tiefes Geschrei und eine allgemein eher düstere Stimmung verbreiten Holding Onto Hope hier. Aber man braucht ja für jede Lebenslage zumindest ein passendes Album, finde ich, und deswegen will ich das mal nicht vorenthalten. Zudem finde ich das Cover mal wieder sehr hübsch gemacht.
Wer sich das Album aber außerhalb von Amazon kaufen will, hat hier die Möglichkeit! Holding Onto Hope bieten nämlich ihr Album zum Pay What You Feel-Download an. Unglaublich aber wahr. Man darf soviel bezahlen wie man will, aber man muss nicht unbedingt, und ich finde, das macht die Jungs gleich noch einen ganzen Meter sympathischer.

Wer viel schreit, muss auch viel ausruhen, und so haben Holding Onto Hope neben ihren normalen Screamo-Tracks auch eine Menge ruhiger, atmosphärischer Songs eingebaut, wie zum Beispiel Departure, The Stillness und Your Path Was In The Great Waters. Wer es gerne ein bisschen härter hätte, kann sich ja mal We Are The Beacons anhören, und das ist sogar das offizielle Musikvideo von den Jungs selbst!

Kraftvolle Musik, würde ich doch behaupten. Und der Rest des Albums hat auch noch so einiges anzubieten, also würde ich doch sagen, ran an die Buletten. Es kostet ja nicht viel.
Wer so richtig was für gute Musik übrig hat, der erinnert sich bestimmt noch an die beiden Alben von 30 Seconds To Mars, die ich bisher vorgestellt habe. Und wer reingehört hat und sich kräftig was auf die Ohren hat geben lassen, der weiß auch, dass Jared Leto und seine Jungs es mächtig draufhaben mit dem Post-Hardcore-Rock mit ein bisschen Emo-Gekreisch. Nun ist es endlich soweit und das dritte – und meiner Meinung nach beste – Album ist endlich rausgekommen.
Verfluchter Mist, ich kann gar nicht aufhören zu fluchen. Wieso? Weil das so verdammt gute Musik ist, das hab ich wirklich kaum erwarten können. Ich bin so dermaßen hin und weg, dass ich eigentlich schon wieder kurz davor bin, allen Tracks ein Herzchen zu geben… Aber ich soll ja kritisch sein, also muss ich wohl etwas differenzierter an die Sache rangehen. Tja, was gibt es zu sagen? Insgesamt klingt das neue Album nicht großartig anders als die vorherigen, vielleicht etwas metallischer und ein paar ungewohntere Elemente, aber eigentlich sind die Jungs ihrem gewohnt guten Stil treu geblieben und rocken das Haus, bis die Schwarte kracht. Und glaubt mir: Das, was im Radio als Single-Auskopplung andauernd gespielt wird, ist nur der Anfang.

An dieser Stelle will ich noch mal auf zwei Dinge hinweisen: Die europäische Variante des Albums hat eventuell ein anderes, sehr viel hässlicheres Cover – und womöglich gibt es statt der letzten beiden Lieder nur einen anderen Track namens L490. Ich weiß auch nicht wieso das so ist… Jedenfalls ist bei meinem US-Import alles so wie es sein soll. Wunderschönes Cover und zwei niedliche Tracks am Ende.
So, jetzt aber zu meiner Empfehlung für dieses Album, auch wenn es mir schwerfällt… Obwohl, eigentlich gar nicht. Das Lied, was ich wirklich immer und immer wieder anhören könnte, nennt sich Hurricane. So wie Linkin Park und Jay-Z eine kleine Hop-Rock-Kombination gemacht haben, taten sich hier 30 Seconds To Mars mit dem dummen Bastard Kanye West zusammen, um dieses Meisterwerk zu schaffen, und selbst wenn man den Proll nicht ausstehen kann, muss man einfach zugeben dass es ihnen gelungen ist.
