Schattenriss vom Feinsten

Ganze acht Sekunden dauert es, bis man die Musik von Arms Like Yours eindeutig in eine Sparte einsortiert hat. Sanft und atmosphärisch beginnt das Album, aber dann bricht ein fulminantes Schlagzeug-Gesangs-Gitarrenfeuerwerk los, das sich fast eine halbe Stunde hält. Wie so oft bei den von mir empfohlenen Titeln ist diese EP nur sechs Tracks lang, aber die haben es in sich.

Ich liebe diesen Part der Blogeinträge, da ich hier nochmal alle Tracks genauestens durchhören kann, um meine kleinen Herzchen gerecht zu verteilen. Als ob ich das ganze Album nicht sowieso auf Dauerschleife hätte, nachts beim Einschlafen oder tagsüber auf dem Weg zur Arbeit.

Mein Tipp!

Bei Split The Sea hab ich jetzt einfach mal das Herzchen absichtlich weggelassen, obwohl der Track auch verdammt gut ist, aber ich kann ja nicht ständig alles super finden. Obwohl, warum eigentlich nicht? Immerhin empfehle ich die Musik ja deswegen.
Dieses Mal ist mein Favorit erst ein paar Tage alt, obwohl ich das Album schon eine Weile höre, aber erst vor kurzem wurde ich auf eine bestimmte Textstelle im Song Inhale Exhale aufmerksam, die ihn ruckartig auf den ersten Platz dieser feinen EP bombardiert. Und weil auch der Rest der Lyrics sehr schön ist, markiere ich die betreffende Stelle einfach nur mal fett. Im Youtube-Clip fängt es so bei 2:30 an…

Und jetzt behaupte noch mal einer, das wäre nicht allerfeinster Emo-Rock! Bei der Stelle könnte ich regelmäßig dahinschmelzen, und ich werde sie mir über die nächsten Tage und Wochen dermaßen in die Ohren dröhnen, dass ich bald nichts mehr davon hören kann und eine neue gute Band empfehlen muss. Ich hab auch schon im Hinterkopf, wer das sein wird…

Caesar wäre stolz gewesen…

Mit einem kräftigen Gebrüll wird das neue Album von We Came As Romans eröffnet, die meiner Meinung nach ziemlich gute Ambitionen haben. Sie ähneln ein bisschen In Fear And Faith, ohne großartig Elemente klauen zu müssen. Und selbst wenn, würde es kaum schlecht klingen, da sowohl die Piratenjungs als auch die Römerknaben wirklich was auf dem Kasten haben. Und da sie das bisher nur auf einer kleinen EP beweisen konnten, bin ich recht froh, dass sie endlich ihr nettes Album To Plant A Seed rausgebracht haben. Und ich finde das Cover wirklich sehr geil gemacht.

Man merkt, dass die Römerknaben einiges an Arbeit in ihre Songs stecken, sonst wären es nicht nur zehn Stück auf dem Album. Und man hätte nicht schon vier davon auf der vorherigen EP hören können, allerdings in anderen Versionen. Aber ich will ja nicht meckern, sondern eher hoffen, dass auf diese Platte bald noch eine zweite folgt.

Ich fürchte, ein bisschen meckern muss ich jetzt doch… Ursprünglich wurde ich nämlich durch Dreams auf die Band aufmerksam, allerdings befand sich das damals noch auf der gleichnamigen EP und war – ungelogen – ein Stück besser. Ich weiß nicht genau, was sie an der Album-Version alles verändert haben, aber es wirkt ein kleines bisschen überladen. Deswegen will ich dir als Leser und Zuhörer auch lieber direkt die bessere Version empfehlen, damit du dich vielleicht entscheidest, gleich die EP und das Album im Doppelpack zu kaufen.

Himmelarschundzwirn, finde ich das Lied geil! Vor allem die letzten zwei Strophen und das gesamte Ende, das ist so herrlich gemacht… Zu gern würde ich mal bei einem Live-Konzert dabei sein und mich von der Musik tragen lassen. Aber für sowas gibt es ja Kopfhörer und ein schickes Cover. Da lässt es sich entspannen…

Piraten kommen immer wieder zurück

In der EP Voyage haben die Jungs ja schon bewiesen, was in ihnen steckt, und im aktuellen und vollwertigen Album Your World On Fire legen sie noch ein bisschen drauf.

Da die vorherige Platte nur eine EP war, muss man sich nicht wundern, auch einige Tracks wieder auf dem richtigen Album zu sehen, allerdings ein bisschen verändert. Wie das immer so ist mit Vorab-Versionen eben. Wobei ich der Meinung bin, dass die EP-Tracks noch mehr Stimmgewalt und Ausdrucksstärke besitzen. Aber das kann ja jeder für sich selbst entscheiden.

Und das Album wird natürlich – ganz in Post-Hardcore-Manier – mit einer Ballade abgeschlossen. Naja, zumindest beginnt Relapse Collapse wie eine Ballade. Dass es dann doch ziemlich schreilastig wird, finde ich aber gar nicht mal so schlecht.

Uh, jetzt hab ich mir natürlich nebenher wieder alle Lieder angehört… Und ich hab Gänsehaut. Verdammt geile Musik.

So sehen wirkliche Piraten aus!

Viele Tage sind vergangen, seit es den Fluch der Karibik im Kino gab und alle über den tollpatschigen, leicht angeschwulten König der Piraten gelacht haben, der von einer dummen Situation in die nächste geriet. Was keiner wusste: Damit wurde das Bild der Piraten natürlich komplett verzerrt. Und die Jungs von In Fear And Faith haben es sich auf die Flagge geschrieben, mit ihrer Musik das Bild wieder zurecht zu rücken. Ich finde, es ist ihnen sehr gut gelungen.

Als ich auf die Band aufmerksam geworden bin, hat es ein paar Wochen gedauert, bis ich wieder was anderes hören konnte… Ich war einfach zu sehr fasziniert von den schnellen Drums, den schrillen Klängen und der unglaublichen Emotion, die in den Stimmen der beiden Leadsänger steckt. Das ist es, was eine gute Band ausmacht: Leidenschaft. Und die steckt in wirklich jedem einzelnen Lied.

Das erste Lied, das dir gefällt, wird wahrscheinlich auch The Taste Of Regret sein. Das gefällt einfach jedem, allein schon wegen der wundervollen Piano-Intro-Passage. Aber auch die Stimmen können überzeugen, und die Texte auch. Und nebenbei ist das eine gute Gelegenheit, um mein neues Spoiler-Plugin auszuprobieren.

Leider ist die kleine EP Voyage schon nach den wenigen Liedern zu Ende, aber nun hat der geneigte Zuhörer mindestens zwei sehr gute Möglichkeiten: Das ganze Album noch mal von vorne anhören oder aber zum nächsten Album wechseln. Ich hab schon beides ausprobiert, und beides ist besser.
